What is SS-31?
SS-31, also called elamipretide, is a mitochondria-targeted tetrapeptide that binds cardiolipin in the inner mitochondrial membrane. The alternating aromatic-cationic motif is what concentrates it in mitochondria, and its interaction with cardiolipin is studied for effects on cristae structure and electron transport efficiency. How is SS-31 handled and stored?
Sealed vials are stored at -20°C away from light and keep for 24 months. To reconstitute, add bacteriostatic water slowly down the inside wall of the vial and swirl until clear; never shake.
