What is KPV?

KPV is the tripeptide lysine-proline-valine, the C-terminal fragment of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone. The fragment retains the anti-inflammatory signalling associated with the parent hormone without its pigmentary activity, which is why it is studied separately from full-length alpha-MSH. Pepstral supplies it as a lyophilized powder for in-vitro laboratory research only.

What is KPV studied for?

  • Anti-inflammatory signalling assays
  • Melanocortin fragment comparisons
  • Epithelial and mucosal models
  • NF-κB pathway research

All applications above are in-vitro or preclinical research contexts. KPV is sold for laboratory research only and is not for human or animal use.

What does the certificate for lot KPV-2609-X show?

Every lot of KPV is tested by an independent US laboratory before it is listed. The report for lot KPV-2609-X is in the COA library and the lot number printed on the vial matches it. The current results:

How is KPV handled and stored?

Sealed vials are stored at -20°C away from light and keep for 24 months. To reconstitute, add bacteriostatic water slowly down the inside wall of the vial and swirl until clear; never shake. Once in solution, keep at 2 to 8°C and use within the 28-day window on the certificate. The reconstitution guide covers volumes and syringe units and the concentration table gives the numbers for this vial.

Frequently asked questions

Why use the fragment rather than alpha-MSH?

KPV separates the anti-inflammatory signal from the melanocortin receptor activity that drives pigmentation, so the two can be studied independently.

Is KPV related to melanotan?

Both derive from alpha-MSH, but the melanotans are receptor agonists built for pigmentary activity and KPV is the C-terminal tripeptide.

Is KPV for human use?

No. Every product on this site is sold for in-vitro laboratory research only and is not for human or animal consumption, diagnostic or therapeutic use.
