What is PEP-RTA-3?
PEP-RTA-3 is a synthetic 39-residue peptide that acts on three receptors at once: GIP, GLP-1 and the glucagon receptor. Researchers use it to study how combined incretin and glucagon signalling changes energy balance, glucose handling and adipose tissue in cell and animal models, and to compare triple-agonist activity against the single- and dual-agonist peptides that came before it. Pepstral supplies it as a lyophilized powder, 10 mg net peptide per vial, with the lot-matched certificate published before the vial is listed.

→PEP-RTA-3 vs PEP-TZP-2: which fits the research question?
What is PEP-RTA-3 studied for?
- Incretin receptor pharmacology and receptor-selectivity assays
- Energy expenditure and adiposity models
- Glucose regulation and insulin-sensitivity studies
- Head-to-head comparisons with PEP-SMG-1 and PEP-TZP-2
All applications above are in-vitro or preclinical research contexts. PEP-RTA-3 is sold for laboratory research only and is not for human or animal use.
What does the certificate for lot RETA10-0803 show?
Every lot of PEP-RTA-3 is tested by an independent US laboratory before it is listed. The report for lot RETA10-0803 is in the COA library and the lot number printed on the vial matches it. The current results:
| Test | Method | Lot RETA10-0803 result |
|---|---|---|
| Identity | LC-MS/MS | Conforms |
| Content | HPLC quantitation | 10.61 mg |
| Purity | RP-HPLC (214 nm) | 99.83% |
| Endotoxin | USP <85> | <0.05 EU/mL |
| Heavy metals | USP <232> | <0.01 ppm |
How is PEP-RTA-3 handled and stored?
Sealed vials are stored at -20°C away from light and keep for 24 months. To reconstitute, add bacteriostatic water slowly down the inside wall of the vial and swirl until clear; never shake. Once in solution, keep at 2 to 8°C and use within our 28-day default for a preserved solution. The concentration table gives the dilution volumes and microlitre aliquots for this vial.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between PEP-RTA-3 and PEP-TZP-2?
PEP-TZP-2 acts on two receptors, GIP and GLP-1. PEP-RTA-3 adds glucagon receptor activity, which is why it appears in studies of energy expenditure as well as glucose signalling.
Is the 10 mg on the label gross weight or net peptide?
Net peptide. The certificate reports amino-acid analysis, so the mass on the label is peptide rather than counter-ions or residual water.
How is PEP-RTA-3 reconstituted for research use?
Bacteriostatic water is added slowly down the vial wall, then the vial is swirled, never shaken. 10 mg in 2 mL gives 5 mg/mL; the reconstitution guide covers other volumes.
Is PEP-RTA-3 for human use?
No. Every product on this site is sold for in-vitro laboratory research only and is not for human or animal consumption, diagnostic or therapeutic use.
