What is Melanotan-1?

Melanotan-1, also called afamelanotide, is a synthetic analogue of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone with a high affinity for the melanocortin-1 receptor. Its selectivity for MC1R is what distinguishes it from the non-selective melanocortin agonists. Pepstral supplies it as a lyophilized powder for in-vitro laboratory research only.

How is Melanotan-1 handled and stored?

Sealed vials are stored at -20°C away from light and keep for 24 months. To reconstitute, add bacteriostatic water slowly down the inside wall of the vial and swirl until clear; never shake.
