What is DSIP?

DSIP, delta sleep-inducing peptide, is a nine-residue peptide first isolated from rabbit cerebral venous blood during induced sleep. Its receptor has never been definitively identified, which is the single most important caveat to record when working with it. Pepstral supplies it as a lyophilized powder for in-vitro laboratory research only.

What is DSIP studied for?

  • Sleep architecture models
  • Stress-response and corticotropin studies
  • Chronobiology research
  • Peptide stability and transport assays

All applications above are in-vitro or preclinical research contexts. DSIP is sold for laboratory research only and is not for human or animal use.

What does the certificate for lot DSI-2609-X show?

Every lot of DSIP is tested by an independent US laboratory before it is listed. The report for lot DSI-2609-X is in the COA library and the lot number printed on the vial matches it. The current results:

How is DSIP handled and stored?

Sealed vials are stored at -20°C away from light and keep for 24 months. To reconstitute, add bacteriostatic water slowly down the inside wall of the vial and swirl until clear; never shake. Once in solution, keep at 2 to 8°C and use within the 28-day window on the certificate. The reconstitution guide covers volumes and syringe units and the concentration table gives the numbers for this vial.

Frequently asked questions

Is the DSIP receptor known?

No. Despite decades of study no receptor has been definitively identified, so mechanistic claims should be framed carefully.

Why is it still studied?

The reproducible observations in sleep and stress models are interesting independently of an identified receptor.

Is DSIP for human use?

No. Every product on this site is sold for in-vitro laboratory research only and is not for human or animal consumption, diagnostic or therapeutic use.
