What is prostamax, and what is it studied for?

Prostamax is the tetrapeptide Lys-Glu-Asp-Pro, formula C20H33N5O9, mass 487.5, CAS 473578-47-1, one of the short synthetic peptides from the St Petersburg bioregulator programme, associated in that literature with prostate tissue models. Its published record is thin and from one group. The current certificate reports 12.82 mg of content against a 20 mg label, which this guide states plainly. The material is for in-vitro research only.

What is the structure of Prostamax?

Four residues with free termini: a basic lysine, two acidic residues and a C-terminal proline, giving a net negative charge near minus one at neutral pH and immediate water solubility. The product copy previously described it as a preparation of variable composition; PubChem lists it as this defined tetrapeptide and the certificate's identity mass, 487.5, agrees, so the identifiers are now recorded.

How is Prostamax thought to work?

As for the rest of the series, the designers propose direct interaction with DNA that alters gene expression; no receptor is identified and the model is not independently established. The specific literature on this tetrapeptide is limited to the programme's own cell and rodent reports.

Which research areas use Prostamax?

AreaTypical models and endpoints
Prostate cell and tissue modelsCell-culture and rodent work from the bioregulator programme.
Bioregulator comparisonsSide-by-side work with testagen, vesugen and the other Khavinson short peptides.
Analytical chemistryA tetrapeptide for early-eluting HPLC and MALDI identity method work.
Content versus labelA worked example, from the catalogue's own certificate, of why the content figure is used in calculations.

What does the published literature show?

Anisimov and Khavinson's 2010 Biogerontology review places the prostate-associated tetrapeptide in the series; primary reports are sparse, Russian-language in part, and from one laboratory group. There is no registered clinical study and no approved product. Research use is in-vitro and preclinical.

How is Prostamax handled in the laboratory?

Dissolves instantly in water or buffer. No oxidation-prone residues; aspartate isomerisation is the slow route, so hold stocks near neutral. Store lyophilized at minus 20 °C; aliquot and freeze. Use the certificate's measured content, not the label, when preparing a stock. The concentration table covers volumes and syringe units; the storage guide covers stability by compound class.

What does the current certificate show?

Lot PROS20-0318 tested at 99.9% purity by RP-HPLC (214 nm), identity confirmed by MALDI-MS, endotoxin ≤0.05 EU/mL. The certificate is in the COA library and the lot number on the vial matches it. Sold as 20 mg per vial at $60, for laboratory research only.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the certificate read 12.82 mg on a 20 mg label?

Because content is a measured mass and the label is nominal; this lot measured at 64% of label. The figure is on the public certificate and in the certificate dataset. Use 12.82 mg in any calculation, and ask support for the lot report before ordering.

What does the current certificate show?

Lot PROS20-0318: identity by MALDI-MS at 487.5, purity 99.9% by RP-HPLC at 214 nm, content 12.82 mg, endotoxin below 0.05 EU/mL. Issued 3 April 2026.

How does it differ from testagen and vesugen?

All three are Lys-Glu-Asp-based: vesugen is the tripeptide Lys-Glu-Asp, testagen adds glycine, prostamax adds proline. Masses 390.4, 447.4 and 487.5 respectively.
